The Bio-Rad ChemiDoc XRS+ imaging system is designed for multiple imaging detection methods including fluorescence, colorimetry, densitometry, chemiluminescence, and chemifluorescence.

The system can accommodate polyacrylamide gels, ReadyAgarose Gels, and various blots, including western blots. It can also be combined with PCR, purification, and electrophoresis systems, enabling image analysis and documentation of restriction digests, amplified nucleic acids, genetic fingerprinting, RFLPs, and protein purification and characterization.
