GGC’s professional chemistry track receives ACS certification

GGC Chemistry is proud to announce that its Professional Track is now officially certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS)!

Starting in Spring 2022, all graduates in this track will receive an ACS certified degree, strengthening their opportunities for jobs and professional schools upon graduating from GGC.

The American Chemical Society, with more than 150,000 members, is the major professional society in the United States for practicing chemists. The ACS sponsors major professional meetings and publishes a large number of scientific journals. The ACS Committee on Professional Training (CPT) establishes guidelines and standards for the approval of bachelor’s degree programs in chemistry. Complete details of the ACS guidelines for degree certification may be found at ACS Approval Program – American Chemical Society.

There are several benefits to obtaining an ACS certified degree, including:

· Certification by the ACS is viewed favorably for admission to graduate or professional programs.

· Employers find graduates of approved programs to be better prepared for technical employment.

· Approved departments are staffed by accomplished faculty, contain a modern and well-maintained infrastructure and instrumentation, and provide a thorough chemistry curriculum.
