Congratulations Grace on receiving the SBA Pedagogy Research Award!! You are so deserving!! Thank you for leading our team, as we could not have accomplished so much without your leadership!! I look forward to writing manuscripts this summer!!
I will be there too!!
Everything was submitted this morning! We make a great team and I cannot wait until we present on May 11th!!
Sounds great! Looking forward to it!
So far so good. They took their second exam today so I will get a better feel for how they are doing since their last exam by Friday.
One Learner Log is due each time.
I collect my Learner Logs every two weeks (due on Saturdays by 11PM via the D2L dropbox). Some students do submit their Learner Logs early, which allows me to read/grade them as they are being submitted. I made the mistake of waiting until all 24 Learner Logs were submitted before I read/graded them. I will never do that again. I do read to make sure the students answered all of the questions in the prompt, and that their logs are a least one page long. I give each student feedback on their log. Once all the logs are graded, I then respond to the whole class in terms of general trends I noticed.
Hi Grace,
So far I have seen very little push back from my students (and this is in both of my Microbiology for Health Sciences sections). Some of my students in the test group did admit to me that in the beginning they did not like the idea of being in a flipped class, but after a few weeks they really saw the benefits. The students in my test group (through their learner logs) expressed how this format of learning really helps them grasp difficult concepts and helps them form study groups. I only had 2/24 students in my test group express (via their learner log) that they preferred a more traditional class.
