Description
The Community Engagement Workshop addresses the question, βIs learning something that happens merely within in the four walls of a classroom, or something more?β by directly focusing on how instructors can cultivate partnerships for learning and community building within the communities that surround the campus. Using GGC-specific examples of community partnerships formed in Gwinnett County and the Atlanta Metro area, this workshop shows faculty members how to open their classrooms to the community. Participants will learn the importance of community engagement, identify their interests in the community issues and affairs, and brainstorm ideas for connecting their disciplines and teaching to community needs.
