Biodiesel research group

The Pursell Research Group focus is environmental chemistry and chemical education.  The group is comprised of GGC students of all majors and high school students from the Gwinnett School of Math, Science, and Technology (GSMST).  The group works primarily out of its research lab located in A Building, lab A1190 and in the instrument core of H1 Building.

  • Chemistry Research. The Pursell research group investigates the GGC campus ecosystem, using analytical, organic, physical and instrumental chemistry methods. Current efforts are on producing and analyzing biodiesel produced from waste oil and grease from the campus Chick-fil-A restaurant.
  • Chemical Education. Developing methods of engaging 21st century students to enable their development as independent, responsible learners who contribute to their profession and community.
