The migration of GGC’s Academic Commons to an external server has now been completed. Working out the details of how to synchronize the login database with GGC’s Active Directory took significantly longer than expected, but at this point everything seems to be working properly, so we are opening the Commons back up for business. The software updates were completed successfully; we are now on the latest version of WordPress (4.8) and all of the currently installed plugins and themes (with the exception of one update which is not compatible with our installation). Again, please let us know if you have any unusual problems or notice any issues over the next couple of weeks.
We will be performing software updates on the Commons today from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; you may be temporarily unable to edit or access sites while the updates are being installed. As of last night, both the CPU power and memory on the virtual server running the Commons have been doubled, and there appears to be a noticeable improvement in responsiveness on the site this morning. Hopefully this will solve (or at least improve) the intermittent slowdowns that we’ve been seeing; only time will tell if this will help with the occasional login issues, but we can hope. 🙂
