We collaborated with 119 K-12 schools and we had 13965 participants in our outreach activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>2017<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>:<\/strong> \u00a0 Chair-Elect, <a href=\"http:\/\/georgia.sites.acs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Chemical Society Georgia Section<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">Organized <a href=\"http:\/\/georgia.sites.acs.org\/meetings.htm\">monthly meetings<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/georgia.sites.acs.org\/sciencecafe.htm\">science caf\u00e9s<\/a>, selected speaker and venue, organized graduate, undergraduate and high school students <a href=\"http:\/\/georgia.sites.acs.org\/Meetings\/2017\/October%202017%20Meeting%20Web%20Announcement.pdf\">research symposium<\/a>\u00a0 and coordinated <a href=\"http:\/\/georgia.sites.acs.org\/projectseed.htm\">Project SEED<\/a>.\u00a0As a Chair-Elect and programming committee chair in 2017 Mallia organized 10 monthly meetings and 3 science caf\u00e9s that was participated by 581 participants (37 % increase compared to 2016).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-249 aligncenter\" helped the SEED committee to make decision of level of funding over 400 SEED proposals\/ year.\u00a0 Mallia promoted awareness and recognition of Project SEED within ACS, the scientific community, and the general public and also participated in long- and short-range planning programs of Project SEED.\u00a0 Mallia also attended all ACS SEED Committee meetings to represent the interests of the ACS membership in the design and execution of the SEED programs.\u00a0 To promote SEED program and coordinators\/mentors Mallia with other SEED committee members launched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acs.org\/content\/acs\/en\/careers\/leadership.html\">ACS Leadership Development system<\/a> helps ACS members to learn\u00a0 and practice leadership skills and\u00a0 strengthen their confidence in day to day life and in their profession. LDS courses are divided into core leadership competency such as personal capability, interpersonal skills, focusing on results and setting a clear direction. By mastering these skills has advantage and make the leaders outstanding in corporate and many other organizational environments. Mallia is a certified facilitator and facilitates collaboration across boundaries. Collaboration is one of the important solution among organization and corporates as well ACS leaders for many problems.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the four hour facilitated workshop Mallia teaches about four stages of collaboration (partner selection, formation, implementation and termination) and tips and tricks to find common ground. By attending this course participants also learn how to leverage difference that results in successful collaboration. Till to date Mallia trained more than 100 ACS leaders, including ACS board of directors, local section chairs, and other professionals.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_705\" supported 84 economically disadvantaged high school students to do summer research in chemistry. Each year in summer time, CSW-SEED committee organized four different events, including an orientation program, career, scientific writing and presentation workshop and research symposium (a total attendees of SEED program were ~200 attendees\/year).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>2013- 2015<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>: <\/strong>\u00a0 Chair, Chemical Society of Washington <a href=\"http:\/\/csw.sites.acs.org\/ycc.htm\">Younger Chemists Committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">From 2013-2015, CSW-YCC successfully organized 33 events, that was attended by 2376 attendees. These events included career management workshops, outreach activities, thematic networking trivia, happy hours, chemistry demonstrations (for the Halloween and Mole Day celebration), museum visits, a chemistry scavenger hunt and invited talks.
